Abercarn
Abercarn is a small town and community in the county borough of Caerphilly, Wales, situated in the Ebbw Valley approximately 10 miles northwest of Newport.

The tragedy had a profound impact on the local community and contributed to the growing national debate over mine safety regulations and the working conditions of coal miners in the United Kingdom. A memorial in the town commemorates the victims of the disaster.
